Legoland

We had such a fabulous time at Legoland! We had two days in the park and one night in the Legoland Hotel. It was really quite quiet in the park, especially on the Thursday. I know some schools weren’t yet on Easter holidays so it may have been that. We set off early and got there by about 11. We went on lots of rides on the first day taking it in turns to stay with our toddler. We took a packed lunch with us to save some money on food and snacked on that in between rides. We last went a few years ago and since then there were two new rides: Haunted House Monster Party and the Flight of the Sky Lion. Both were good but I loved the sky lion one, definitely my favourite!

The Ninjago ride was still a favourite with our family and The Dragon rollercoaster. Our little one absolutely loved the Legoland Express train so we went on that multiple times both days and everyone enjoyed seeing him so excited. In the evening we had a drink in the hotel and there was some kids entertainment on which they absolutely loved! Well done to the staff doing this as the children thought they were great. We had a three course dinner (quite an ask with a small child but didn’t seem to be any other option) which was really good (about £100 for four of us).

The hotel room was Adventure themed and was similar to the Castle Hotel rooms. We had a double bed, space for a travel cot (which didn’t get used in the end!) and separated by the bathroom was a bunk bed which even had a trundle bed underneath so good to know in the future we could use that and not need two hotel rooms. They had the treasure hunt for the children to solve to get into the safe in which the prize was a small lego set for each of the children (age appropriate) which they loved.

In the morning it wasn’t the usual hotel buffet we were expecting (probably due to covid) but we were happy with it. There was a choice of full English, pancakes, or continental and between us we ordered it all! They kindly let one of the children order both the continental and the pancakes when they couldn’t decide so the big kids got to share some pancakes too.

After breakfast the children played outside on the play area (pictured) and then we walked along to the Castle Hotel and played on that too (we pretty much had both to ourselves) while we waited for the park to open. We split up for a while on the second day; I took our little one to Duploland while the big kids went on bigger rides with my husband. We went on the Duplo Express ride quite a few times and the Fairy Tale Brook boat ride.

Unfortunately, he wasn’t tall enough for the new Duplo Dino Coaster which he was upset about! We intended to watch one of the puppet shows but didn’t get around to it. We also tried to take him to one of the 4D cinema shows but he found it scary and we had to leave! We think he may have enjoyed the Lego city one better but he was asleep in the pram at that point. He did get to watch some of the ‘Pirates of Pelican Bay’ show which was on because they were having a dress rehearsal. We’ve seen it before on other visits and it’s a good show. Mia’s Riding Adventure was a new one for us this year. I don’t think the children have been tall enough in previous visits. That was a fun ride!

We felt like we’d really had our money’s worth on the rides by the Friday afternoon so we could be fairly relaxed. We had a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream near the Lego Studios 4D which was amazing! Then we headed to Miniland to have a look around and we were really impressed by how much they had added to it and improved it since our last visit. It looked a lot fresher and more modern.

We also enjoyed a look around the big Lego shop. We had a mid afternoon meal at the City Walk Pizza Pasta restaurant which was an all you can eat buffet which filled us all up for the journey home but was fairly expensive (about £50 for four of us). We did notice it closed early, about 3pm, although there was no warning of this on signs or the website. We set off home about 5pm.

It was a really fun trip which I know the big ones will remember. We couldn’t have asked for more in terms of how many rides we went on but it could have been a different story if it had been a busier week. It wasn’t a cheap trip and wouldn’t be for everyone if you are not big theme park fans but we are so it was worth it! We have also stayed in the Castle Hotel in the past and we did like that one more (although more expensive) and we have also stayed at the local Hilton Hotel which was really good and I remember the dinner and breakfast being great so there are different options when it comes to staying there. Also, you can use Tesco vouchers for Legoland tickets. We certainly needed a couple of days rest to recover when we got back! I’m sure we will be be back before too long.
