Bransby Horses, Lincoln

Our day out here really surpassed our expectations as we knew it was free (donations welcome). We were here for nearly three hours and could have stayed longer. There is a free car park and an overflow car park if this is full. We started with our picnic in the picnic area next to the play park. We had a bit of an issue with wasps but it’s the same anywhere at this time of year! Following this the kids enjoyed a play in the lovely park. There was equipment suitable for our age span of 2-10 which was great and it was fresh and modern.

We went for the countryside walk around the area following the map given to us from the visitor centre and then following the red horse shoes to guide our way. We saw lots of horses and donkeys on the way, it was a really nice walk. The map suggested it took 40 minutes but I think we were quite a lot longer as my daughter wanted to stop and stroke any horses who were willing!

When we got back to the visitors centre we had drinks from the cafe and the children chose ice lollies from the gift shop which they ate in the cafe. The cafe and outside courtyard area were lovely. After this the kids were keen to have another play in the park and we bought a couple of toy horses from the gift shop on our way out. I was really impressed with this place, they are clearly doing a great job of looking after the horses which is fantastic so it’s good to support them by visiting. As a day or half day out it’s got everything you need, from the modern park, picnic area, nice cafe, lovely walk and animals to see. Even if you want to buy ice creams or give a small donation, this is still a very inexpensive day out.
