Mablethorpe Beach

This was one of my favourite day trips this summer. We hired a beach hut in Mablethorpe which only cost £30. We met some family down there and those who wanted to could sit outside there, as a number of chairs were provided. We had one that faced the sea so this was a great spot. The sandy beach is really lovely and has won awards. There was plenty of space, it wasn’t overcrowded. I even put on my costume and went in the sea myself, something I haven’t done in years!

The children had a fantastic time playing with the sand and paddling in the sea. We did see a jellyfish in there but no one was stung thankfully. We took a picnic for lunch but others in our group bought fish and chips. We got a delicious Marshfield ice cream from a nearby shop. It was great having the beach hut as we could make teas and coffees, it gave us somewhere to get changed and a base to keep our bags. It also meant we could eat our lunch while sitting on the chairs outside.

My husband took our toddler for a short walk to the fun fair. He was too small for most of the rides but had fun on a carousel. He also enjoyed seeing the lifeboats there. In addition, there was a splash pad really close to the beach which the kids played on before we left for home. This was really good fun. Right next to this was a boating lake with pedalo boats, so there is plenty to do. We will definitely repeat this day out next summer!
