It was our first time at Eureka! and I thought it was a great day out. I was really looking forward to this one as I love science museums and thought it would be a good one for us all to stick together. We paid for it using Tesco vouchers so it was completely free which was excellent (apart from the cost of parking). We started with a quick coffee from the cafe. We then explored the ground floor starting with the SoundSpace area and the SoundGarden (for under 5s). There was plenty of hands on equipment for everyone to touch and get involved with. Our toddler loved painting the butterflies (on the screen) and then releasing them into the digital garden on the screen above. There was a gate on this area so that was helpful.

We then headed to the ‘Living and Working Together’ section which had lots to explore and had a role play area type feel to it. There was a petrol station, car wash, garage, tyre shop, etc. They could put petrol in the car, set the car wash off, and pretend to fix the car. My daughter got dressed up in the mechanics overalls. After this we went in the theatre where a member of staff were taking one family at a time to play an interactive game with the screen. The kids chose to play a game where asteroids were moving towards Earth and they had to throw balls at them to destroy them. They really enjoyed this! We then left and drove to Pizza Hut which we had noticed a few minutes drive from the museum for a nice buffet lunch. There were places to eat a picnic lunch so we could have taken our own. The museum gave us a token to show when we returned. We also had no trouble getting parked again in the car park.

When we got back we stopped and had a play with some of the outdoor things. There was a lovely big sandpit there. They also had an entertainer outside performing magic and juggling. Next, we headed upstairs and went to the ‘All About Me’ section which was my favourite. There was a lot of fun things to do and look at. You could see how tall you are, get an estimate of what you will look like when you are older, and learn about how your muscles work.

There were a couple of other areas upstairs including another under 5s area ‘Desert Discovery’. We then returned downstairs to some spaces we had missed. They had an M&S food ‘shop’ where they could play with small trolleys and pretend food – great fun! I would recommend it here for younger children although all of ours enjoyed it (aged 2-10).
