The kids had a great day out at Sundown Adventureland. I think this was our most expensive day out this summer at £85. It’s marketed as an under 10s theme park. Our eldest is 10 so we thought we’d better squeeze this in as soon as possible! Although he and our eight year old are very daring when it comes to rides, they had no complaints at all about the rides being on the tame side and enjoyed being able to go on rides with their little brother. There were a number of rides to go on and our youngest enjoyed the tractor ride while the big ones liked the Jolly Pirate Boat Ride best. I had a slight bug bear that most of the rides seemed to be set up for a family of four so if we all went on a ride we had to separate.

The rides were generally quite gentle and good for little ones but a few of them scared my toddler with the music and sometimes creepy looking and sounding mannequins. The ones he didn’t like were Robin Hood’s Merry Adventure Ride and the Rocky Mountain Railroad Ride and also some of the models that were about. Some of them had a slightly creepy fairy tale vibe that you sometimes get which I am not a fan of either. Having said that though, everyone I know who has been loves and recommends this place and my husband and older kids thought it was a fantastic day too.

There were plenty of outdoor playground areas to play in. The big kids enjoyed Fort Apache best and our toddler like Captain Sandy’s Play Cove. We ate our lunch here which we had taken with us. Again, the seating was set up for four people. They also had high chairs so were okay this time but if we go again I guess one of us would stand! We also spent a lot of time in the two soft plays. Crash Landings was a huge soft play. The older two loved it in here but it was really busy and a bit stressful keeping an eye on the little one. Later in the day we went to Rodeo Corral and I liked this one better. It was much quieter and smaller but still a good size.

We ended the day with really good ice cream (lots of flavour choices) and a look around the gift shop. Overall, this was a good day out for younger children with plenty of playground areas, soft play and rides.
