We had such a fun time at Redhouse Farm in half term. It was our first time doing ‘pick your own pumpkins’ and we met up with some family to do this. It was free to go, you just paid for the pumpkins you picked. My older son enjoyed being in charge of the wheelbarrow and we spent quite a long time in the field looking at and choosing our pumpkins. There were various unusual sorts which was interesting – green, white, grey, stripey, unusual shapes etc. They had an area were you could see the differing costs of the types of pumpkins. We managed to miss this until after we’d paid but I believe the more unusual ones were pricier than the usual orange ones. We spent £13 on ours which I was happy with.

After this we headed to the outdoor cafe for a drink. On the way, the children enjoyed climbing on some hay bales which had been decorated for Halloween. They also had a maize maze which I think is a summer activity. There was a great outdoor area with a cover where you could sit after buying drinks and treats from the outdoor cafe Kettle & Cake. We went for a yummy rocky road and caramel slice! There were also a couple of shops in huts around this area. Unfortunately I left it a bit late and they were closing as I went to look.

On the way back to the car we went to another area where they had some really high hay bales to climb on. The 8-10 year olds in our party loved this and my toddler was crazy about an old tractor he could climb on so this kept them busy a while longer. A lovely afternoon out and fun thing to do with family or friends. It looks like they do other events throughout the year such as an Easter trail too.
