Skegness Aquarium

Over the Easter holidays we went to Skegness Aquarium. We used the special offer by the Lincolnshire Co-op to get 20% off, which brought the price down to £30 for two adults and two children (under 3s were free). We had a slight issue that we arrived after a bit of a drive with our packed lunch to be told there was nowhere available to eat it. I think we’ve been spoiled recently with our trips to places like the National Space Centre and Magna that provide a place to eat your own food! However, it wasn’t a big deal as we just popped back out to eat on some nearby benches before returning.

There were three areas to this place: the aquarium, Jurassic Falls Dinosaur Land, and the soft play/cafe area. We started with the aquarium. There were lots of different fish and creatures to look at. We were given some sheets with a quiz to fill out by reading the information around the aquarium. This was good for learning. My son did start this but didn’t finish it. They all enjoyed looking around. They do snorkelling here which sounded interesting. It is for 6 – 11 year olds and costs £49.

Following this we headed out to the outside area which had a number of dinosaurs, some of which moved and made noises which was cool. My youngest loved it but was a bit scared too! There were boards around which gave educational information about the various dinosaurs. There was a large sand table near to the door to the dinosaur area which the younger ones spent some time playing with.

Next, we headed to the soft play and cafe upstairs. The adults got a cup of tea here and the kids enjoyed the soft play. It was aimed at 3-11 year olds with a small area for toddlers too. My eldest was happy to look after the youngest around the soft play. I didn’t really look at what the cafe was selling but my son pointed out some delicious looking giant cookies!

The kids wanted another look at the dinosaur area after this before we left. We spent a few hours here in total. We travelled a fair way here as we were meeting family, so we didn’t do anything else in Skegness, but this is probably something you would combine with spending some more time exploring Skegness.
