Cambridge

We decided to stay in a hotel near Legoland the night before our latest Legoland trip so we could get there early and make the most of the day. Cambridge seemed like a good place to stop on the way to the hotel in order to have a full day the day before too. We left in the morning and drove to the park and ride just outside Cambridge. This worked out well costing £7 for the five of us. We don’t often ride a bus so this was a novelty for our youngest. We got off the bus near the centre and started at one of the colleges – Emmanuel College – which was lovely. From here I actually pulled up a bloggers post on a self-guided walk around Cambridge and started to follow that; it was really useful. We walked further towards the city and saw Christ’s College and then onto the market which was great – busy, with lots of different stalls to looks around. We got the kids ice creams and we sat near the market to eat them.

There were lots of shops to look around (if we didn’t have children with us!). We went to Great St Mary’s Church next and decided to climb the tower which was quite an undertaking but we made it to the top and had great views around Cambridge! This cost £16 and was a fun experience. We continued with the self-guided tour to pass King’s College and St. Catharine’s College and had a look at Corpus Christi College.

We made it to River Cam for a look at Mathematical Bridge. My husband and I could definitely have continued on with the self guided tour, it’s a lovely city, but the children had had enough sight-seeing so we made our way back to the bus to get back to our car for the second leg of our journey. I would love to return to Cambridge another time.
