William’s Den, Yorkshire

William’s Den is such a fantastic place. It had been highly recommended as a day out by a friend so had been on my list of places to try. We were invited to join my friend and children to the ‘pitch up and play’ which cost £70 to play in William’s Den on the first day from 2-5pm, then camp in the neighbouring field, and have another full days play the next day (for one adult and two children). William’s Den itself, has a lovely indoor play area with lots of natural materials like wood, sand, rocks etc. The two 11 year olds weren’t quite as interested in the inside area but the younger ones loved it. There were also staff about blowing bubbles etc which the kids loved.

Outside was also brilliant. They have various different areas to play in. The location is in the countryside so it’s a lovely spot. There are zip wires, wooden structures to climb on, hills with tunnels in them, den building, a basket swing, and hay bales to climb on. The big hits with mine were the football pitch (my eldest spent a lot of time on here), the sand area (which had rocks and a water pump), and the inflatable obstacle course. Outside, there are also places you can eat your own food with lots of tables and a large covered teepee. There is a cafe serving drinks etc to both the outdoor and indoor areas.

We spent 2-5pm on the first day playing indoors and outdoors and then we made our way to the field to put up our tents. I don’t have much experience of camping, but this seemed like a great campsite. There were toilets, showers, a washing up station, drinking water and a small shop. There was plenty of space to pitch. The boys enjoyed playing football with some other campers in the evening. We would come again!

The next day we had a full day of play at William’s Den and the kids had a great time. My husband brought our youngest to join in on the second day (a further £29). We had lunch in the pizza restaurant which was nice and the food was great. There is a fabulous ice cream parlour with so many flavours, toppings and sauces. This place is definitely worth a visit.
