Whisby Nature Park

It was our first visit here and what a lovely place. This is another great place for a cheap day out with the kids in nature, and to get some exercise. It is dog friendly so if you have a dog this is a bonus. Car parking is either £2.50 or £1.50 depending on the time of year. We went in the summer and met friends there. We started in the National World Centre which is open everyday 9:30-4:30. They have a cafe selling food and drinks, and a gift shop and toilets. The highlight in here is the indoor adventure play area for children approximately three and above. This is completely free and although you can book in advance you can also ask on arrival, which is what we did and it was available. Unfortunately, our oldest children (both 11) were too tall to be allowed on the equipment but they could still come in the area.

After a session here, we then went to the outdoor adventure play area. This was also very good and was suitable for our 3-11 year olds. While we were there we ate our picnics we had brought with us. There are a number of picnic tables although we did have a bit of a problem with wasps!

Afterwards we had a lovely walk around the nature park. There are a number of walks you can do with a helpful map at the Natural World Centre. We chose a walk which was just over a mile due to our 3 year olds and this was long enough but gave us some beautiful views of the area. We saw plenty of butterflies, dragonflies, ducks and heron.

We finished with a drink from the cafe and another quick play in the indoor play area. We will definitely come here again.
