Natureland Seal Sanctuary, Skegness

We spent a few hours here earlier this year. We’ve been before at least 10 years ago when visiting family. We didn’t manage to get an offer but it is currently 50% off (£18 instead of £36 for a family pass) at the time of writing, on Planet Offers. Planet Offers is a great place to find deals on family days out! We met some family here and had a lovely time. We started by checking out the seals which we enjoyed. As well as the main pool, we could see baby seals in the smaller pools and there was also the hospital area where they were caring for poorly seals. If you time it right you can see the seals’ feeding time. Natureland is a seal sanctuary so they take in injured seals and rehabilitate them and then release to the wild, so they do a great job and it’s good to visit and support them.

Since it was nearly lunch time, we found some picnic benches just outside the cafe and ate here although we kept being visited by a pigeon! We got some hot drinks from the cafe which was also selling food. We went for a look around the reptile house – there was plenty to look at including a crocodile. One of my kids particularly liked seeing the snakes. We then visited the goats who were fun. We bought some food to feed them but one seemed to be trying to eat everything in sight and got hold of our map and ate part of it! Then he grabbed my son’s bobble hat off his head but we managed to get it back – it did give us a good laugh! There was a rabbit and guinea pig area but since it was cold they were keeping warm so not really out which was a shame.

We then went to the tropical bird area which was nice (they have Star Finches, Green Singing Finch and Diamond Doves), and finally the aquarium. We found the eel and salamander interesting. We finished by popping to see the penguins and a game of hide and seek, before ending with a look in the gift shop. They had some lovely seal soft toys. They also have Koi, meerkats, and in warmer weather butterflies and alpacas, which we were too early to see. Great to visit and support the good work they do here.
