We recently went to Gulliver’s near Sheffield for our youngest’s birthday. What a brilliant day we had! It is perfect for younger children. It was a weekend day that we went but we hardly had to queue for the rides at all which is good when you have little ones. The age suggestion on the website is 3-12 and with our eldest being 12 but also a thrill seeker this was pushing it a bit for him but since the day was for his brother’s birthday he was fine with this and enjoyed seeing him have a fabulous time. There were four main areas to Gulliver’s: Lost World, Smugglers Wharf, Gears, and Western World. We made our way around all of them and revisited some twice. Our favourite was T-Rex Tower, the water slide in Lost World. This was such fun! We also really liked the Dodgems, Ghostly Galleon (pirate ship), and Grand Prix Racers. There were plenty of rides that we could all go on together which isn’t always the case as a family of 5.

We ate our picnic under a covered area with picnic tables which was good as it had a fossil excavation activity here so something to keep little ones entertained while you eat lunch. The kids chose a slushy as their treat here. They came with reusable special tall cups with straws which are still in use at home regularly. Once we had done all the outdoor areas we checked out what they had indoors. They absolutely loved an indoor inflatable area. It was quite crazy in there and I might have been a bit nervous to send our 4 year old in there alone but luckily he had his siblings to take care of him! Our 12 year old was almost too tall to go in here and the same for a couple of rides so we timed it right in coming when we did.

Our daughter scaled a climbing wall and got all the way to the top. This was her first time doing this and it was no extra cost which I thought was really good as just visiting climbing walls/places can be pretty expensive. Also inside downstairs were various small rides, mini golf, a few arcade games and a soft play, as well as the gift shop, so there is plenty to do, even if the weather isn’t good.

Upstairs, there were different things to do such as a large ball pool, diggers to get on and control, Lego to play with etc. There were also various playgrounds scattered around outside.

This was a wonderful day out. We really felt that we got our monies worth here – tons of rides and play and very little queueing or stress. Highly recommended if you have smaller children. My friend has been for the ‘eat, sleep, play’ stay over package and enjoyed that too, and felt it was good value. Our day out cost us £90 for the five of us.
