Market Rasen is a market town in West Lindsey. We love the library here, the staff are so friendly. It has a good children’s area with a train bookcase they can clamber on. They do lots of community activities here. In term time they have story time for little ones and various after school activities like Lego and craft. On Saturday mornings they have an art and craft session for children. In the summer holidays they do the summer reading challenge and various activities for children.
The March Hare
My favourite cafe here is the March Hare. I love to come in here for a quiet coffee and sourdough toast, or to take the kids for cake. The staff are always very helpful and the food is delicious. As well as breakfast, lunches, and cakes, they are also open on Friday and Saturday evenings 6-9pm for meals and can be booked for events.

Spring Beauty
So pleased to have found this beauty salon. Spring Beauty has won many awards including Beauty Salon of 2023 at the Lincolnshire Health & Beauty Excellence Awards. You can have everything you would expect here (massages, nails, waxing, facials etc), and have recently added ‘microneedling’ to their list of treatments. The facials are amazing and a lovely treat – highly recommended! It has a ‘snug’ room, which you can add on to the end of your treatment. For £10 you can have 30 mins in here which includes use of the heated lounger and tea/coffee. They sometimes do package deals such as ‘group retreat’ for £70 which includes a welcome drink, 25 minute treatment, afternoon tea, and use of the snug, a robe and mask for 2.5 hours.

Other places to mention are 1. The children’s centre, which has sessions for babies, toddlers, and pre-school children which I have used and are lovely. 2. The Green Life Pantry: A zero waste, weigh your own and refill shop. I have not yet tried it but would like to support! 3. The leisure centre which has a sports hall and gym and you can do all kinds of activities. We have done table tennis sessions here, attended a soft play party, and attended ‘active antz’ a fun soft play/bouncy session for toddlers and preschoolers many times. You can park either in the square for free or in the Co-op car park for up to 90 minutes for free. There is limited parking for free at the library and a nearby car park which is free for the first two hours.
Then, just outside Market Rasen there are:
Willingham Woods
A great place for a walk in the woods. There is a catering van for drinks/ice creams and some toilets. Otherwise, it’s all about nature. You can see my previous blog post here.

Wright’s Ice Cream
Just along from Willingham Woods is Wright’s Ice Cream. You can combine the two in a day/afternoon out or just come here separately. As expected at an ice cream parlour, they have numerous flavours of delicious ice cream as well as drinks/lunch etc. In addition to the cafe there is an outdoor area with play equipment and also an area for football with goals so you can spend a bit of time here.

Wild Pines
I recently took my eldest to Wild Pines for the two of us to try the wild ropes course. It was the first time I’d tried this sort of thing and I loved it, especially the zip wires! We both had a great time and we will definitely be back to do this again sometime and maybe try out the other things there are to do and for the other kids too. They do archery, mini golf and birthday parties.

The annual fireworks at the cricket and football club run by the Round Table is well worth a visit. Excellent fireworks, a bar and reasonably priced food. We’ve been to this for the last two years. Hopefully this has given you a few ideas of places to try in or near Market Rasen if you live within visiting distance!
